Smaller areas around the Florida Gulf Coast have a lot to offer their residents. Blue Mountain Beach, a neighborhood within Santa Rosa Beach, has local shops and boutiques… and a lot of small-town charm! The gorgeous stretch of beach is great for taking a long stroll, sunbathing, or just hanging out by the water. This city also has a good number of schools: Lula J. Edge Elementary School, James E. Plew Elementary School, CW Ruckel Middle School, and Niceville High School.

The city of Destin, located both on Choctawhatchee Bay and the Florida Gulf Coast, is also a good option for families. With an elementary, middle, and high school (plus preschool and daycare!), families of any size will have an easy time settling down. As well, Destin is a hub for shops, restaurants, and entertainment, including Baytowne Adventure Zone, The Track - Destin, and Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park.
