The Destin real estate market is composed of both older buildings and new developments. Silver Shells Beach Resort is made up of six tall condo towers, and is a popular development for interested homebuyers for its location right on the beach. Some of the towers, such as St. Lucia and St. Maarten, are rental only, while others, such as St. Barth and St. Thomas, are popular residences. The newest and final tower, St. Kitts, is the most modern in design and construction is currently underway. Luxurious features include walk-in closets, granite countertops, in-suite laundry, and a large balcony.

For additional privacy and security, some of the condo complexes are located in gated communities. Sandpiper Cove, as an example, is a small-size condo development just steps away from the beach. Midsize condos, such as Destin on the Gulf and Waterview Towers, also have gated entry. 

When it comes to price point, this ranges significantly. Newer, more modern condos for sale typically fall under the luxury category, with the most desirable units facing the water. Older, smaller condos, such as the ones in Sandpiper Cove, are available at more affordable prices, but offer the same great location and amenities. Interiors typically take on a beachy, Florida style, but again—newer condos come with sought-after luxurious finishes and modern upgrades.

The city of Destin, in the 30A area, is an affluent area known for its gorgeous views. And because of its relatively small size, all of the city’s amazing amenities, from shops to restaurants, are just a short drive away!

Amenities, of course, range from condo building to condo building. That being said, condos in Destin are typically equipped with some spectacular facilities. From pools to game rooms, there’s nothing like owning a condo in this beautiful 30A city. 

While many home buyers might prefer a newer condo, the older complexes still do have a lot of charm and appeal. Many older units have been recently updated and renovated, which typically means modern finishes and appliances. As well, hurricane-proof windows and doors are a popular addition. Amenities in older condos may not be the resort-style features that new, luxury condos have to offer, but common amenities include tennis courts, a pool, outdoor entertaining and/or grill area, parking, and more. Depending on the location, there may also be a marina for resident use.

Even some older condos, due to their excellent locations, can be priced in the luxury bracket. Waterfront condos are especially desirable in Destin. Buyers (and investors—but take note of building rental restrictions) are able to get a lot for their money; square footage is typically quite generous. Buildings such as Harbor Place offer amenities such as storage, a private dock, a fitness center, a pool, and more—all guarded by gated entry. The most sought-after buildings have resident beach access, meaning the waterfront is only a short walk away.
